National AHEC Week in Indiana celebrates The Next Generation...Meeting Highlights

Crispus Attucks Shares AHEC Partnership Story

For two years, Indiana AHEC Program and the Metropolitan Indianapolis-Central Indiana AHEC have built a partnership with Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet High School (CAMMHS) in Indianapolis to provide enrichment activities designed to sustain and strengthen health careers interest and academic achievement among the school’s primarily African American students. Magnet Coordinator Marty Weyand 10th-grader Kenneth Rush shared with the Annual Meeting audience the keys to early student success at CAMMHS. With its first class now less than two years from graduation, Weyand described how AHEC activities cultivate health careers interest and intent among a student body that is taking one of the most demanding curricula in Indiana, earning early college credit, and preparing to meet a goal of 100% college attendance.
