Many of this year’s attendees were
members of the Indiana Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Statewide
Advisory Board, a group of more than 40 individuals who represent a
broad array of Hoosier partners with a stake in ensuring that Indiana
responds to emerging health care needs with demonstrably successful
strategies to “grow our own” health care providers. Members of the
Advisory Board met for their spring meeting on Tuesday morning, where
the Board reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing guidance of the Indiana
AHEC Program and reviewed progress on funds development and
sustainability planning.
Twenty-seven Advisory Board members
later joined nearly 81 other attendees to review and discuss recent
regional AHEC learning projects that were presented as posters by
health professions trainees and high school students who have
participated in AHEC academic enrichment and health careers
promotion activities. Participating AHEC students included Tynesha
Dodd, Alisha Jones, Kenneth Rush, and Acasvia Webster from Crispus
Attucks Medical Magnet High School (Indianapolis), Robin Ireland,
Lisa Deakins, and Melissa Williams from Indiana State University,
and Lydia Harman, Xavier Quada, Ana Ponce, Melanie Kim from Indiana
University Purdue University Fort Wayne and Amanda Turich also
presented a poster (Hammond). |
