"Bringing the Pieces Together"
AHEC 2nd Annual Meeting Highlights

Thank you to all who participated in the Indiana AHEC 2nd Annual Meeting. We had a wonderful day with over 170 people registered to attend, including educators, advocates, health professionals, community leaders, 32 students, and many others from across the state. The day began with opening remarks, "Pieces of What?" by Richard Kiovsky, MD. While Deborah Allen, MD & Terrell Zollinger, DrPH presented their research on "Shortages of Health Professionals in Indiana," the students separated into their own group: "How to Get to College and What to Do Once You’re There." Three students, Tricia Kurtz, MD, Jennifer Maya, MD, and Erica Williams then spoke about their own personal experiences with AHEC. During lunch, keynote speaker Jason Young captivated audiences with "Teams that Succeed Together." Awards were then presented, followed by the adults attending the "Regional AHEC Highlights" and students participating in the Healthcare Boot Camp. The day ended with a special treat for the students, a chance to meet with EMT's and go inside a real ambulance.
