Jerry
Patterson, Ph.D., Keynote Speaker
Jerry
Patterson, Ph.D., speaks to health care. Within the first few
minutes of his presentation, you’ll understand why Dr. Patterson has
received standing ovations for his keynote and seminar presentations
at hundreds of health care meetings throughout the United States,
Canada and the West Indies.
Jerry’s twenty-plus
years in administration at one of the country’s leading medical
centers provides him with intimate knowledge of the culture of the
health care industry. As an Adjunct Professor in Hospital and Health
Administration, he is aware of the challenges the health care
industry faces. As Faculty Fellow in Health Management Studies, he
knows the impact that legislation and regulation has had on delivery
of services. And, as a humorist, he knows the importance of
laughter.
Because Jerry’s
presentations are a rich mixture of humor and practicality, they are
ideal for employee recognition events, management retreats, or for
any group involved in the world’s most exhilarating and exhausting
industry -- health care!
Health Care Topics
The Doctor
Ordered It
Enthusiasm is the single best insulator against the apathy that can
and does occur as a result of the continuous changes and resulting
challenges in health care. Using humorous, hospital-based stories to
illustrate his points, Jerry covers HIPAA, Joint Commission
accreditation surveys, confusing policies, complaining patients and
cantankerous care givers. The end result is laughter and renewed
awareness that enthusiasm is essential in dealing with the hassles
of health care. If your organization or professional association is
dealing with the downside of change and could profit from an upbeat
message of optimism to encourage them, “The Doctor Ordered it” is a
proven winner!
Does High Tech
Mean Low Touch
Take a laughter-filled journey through the crossroads of rural
Southern Culture with Aunt Ida, a “trained” nurse, Uncle Forney, a
hypochondriac of the first order, Bubba Junior, a part-time EMT, and
a host of other characters you’ve known or are likely to know if
you’ve spent time in rural areas. Jerry says his stories are “mostly
real.” His characters are certainly believable, and the message is
perfectly clear: Quality care and caring are not synonymous
activities.
I’ll Be With You
In A Minute
Sharing stories of his transformation from a card-carrying
chauvinist to a guy who learned to iron (the fronts of) shirts, go
grocery shopping by himself, and occasionally prepare edible food,
Jerry stands forth as an advocate of three important four-letter
words: feel, care, and love. Using these words with those with whom
we share life, either at home or at work, makes a significant
difference in relationship maintenance. A fun program for
team-building event.
This Won’t Hurt
A Bit
This rib-tickling “roast” takes jabs at almost all health care
providers and at many of the policies, procedures, and techniques
found in most health care facilities. It’s all in fun, of course,
but the intent is to remind us that what we take as “routine” is new
and frightening to those at the receiving end of the treatments.
It’s a fun trip through patient rooms and treatment areas, and it’s
guaranteed to make us think twice about what the patient experiences
when in our care. A Fun presentation for employee events. |
