Richard D. Kiovsky, M.D.
Dr.
Kiovsky is a native Hoosier and received his medical degree from Indiana
University in 1976. He completed his Family Medicine residency training
at Mercy Medical Center in Denver, Colorado and his academic fellowship
in Family Medicine from the University of North Carolina. Prior to his
academic appointment in 1990, he served in private practice for 11 years
in Aurora, Colorado. Dr. Kiovsky served as Acting Chair for 2 years and
Vice-Chair of Clinical Affairs for 4 years. He now serves as the
director of the Indiana Area Health Education Center. Also, Dr. Kiovsky
is the director of undergraduate medical education for the department
and Professor of Clinical Family Medicine.
Dr. Kiovsky is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the
American Academy of Family Physicians. Additionally, Dr. Kiovsky holds
the American Medical Association, Physician's Recognition Award
Certificate (AMA PRA), valid through July 2011. The AMA PRA certificate
recognizes physicians who complete at least fifty hours of continuing
medical education annually. He is consistently listed among the "Best
Doctors in America" for his clinical specialty.
Dr. Kiovsky's educational activities have included the development of a
required third-year clerkship in Family Medicine, as well as providing
national faculty development workshops. He serves on several panels
designed to improve the healthcare provider shortage problem in
underserved populations. Dr. Kiovsky serves as Faculty Advisor for the
Christian Medical Student Association for the medical school. He also
serves on the Board of Directors for the Medical Institute for Sexual
Health, a scientifically oriented organization promoting abstinence
outside of marriage and fidelity within marriage.
