AHEC's in Indiana...
West Central Indiana Area Health
Education Center (WCI-AHEC)
Indiana's first Area Health Education Center (AHEC) was established in the
West Central region of the state. The West Central Indiana (WCI) AHEC was
established under the guidance of Roy Geib, Ph.D. Under Dr. Geib's early
leadership, successful partnerships have been forged between Indiana State
University, the Indiana University School of Medicine's Terre Haute Center
for Medical Education and many important community partners.
The WCI-AHEC has worked to:
- Address the health professions
pipeline through programs designed to introduce students in middle
school and high school to the health professions and life
sciences;
- Provide public and professions
education through programs designed to bring the latest health
information to the community through Mini Medical School for the
general public and to health professionals through a variety of
continuing education opportunities;
- Develop resources to identify the
needs of the region and the opportunities for enhancing the region's
existing resources and assets to improve the health professions in the
region;
- Identify and respond to emerging
priorities in the region.
