Northeast Indiana AHEC and INSight Youth Corps
Northeast Indiana AHEC associate director Cathy Duchovic RN MSN
serves as Community Advisor to the INSight Youth Corps at Paul
Harding High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Together with Harding
teacher and IYC Faculty Advisor Jan Hipskind, Cathy has conducted
several training sessions with the IYC at Harding, where 83% of
students are individuals of color under-represented in the health
professions. The Fort Wayne News-Sentinel recently visited
the Harding INSight Youth Corps and published an
article.
Indiana’s
AHECs are proud to be serving as Community Advisors to 11 Indiana
high schools around the state that have launched INSight Youth
Corps. A project of Gov. Daniels’ INShape Indiana initiative to
encourage healthy behaviors in nutrition, physical activity, and
tobacco cessation and prevention, INSight Youth Corps trains high-schoolers
to be public health champions, guides them in conducting peer
training and creative health education projects, and introduces them
to health careers. Visit the
INSight
Youth Corps web site. |
