School Health Initiatives Midwestern Regional Conference

On Covering Kids & Families of Indiana (CKF-IN) and its partners, along with the National Covering Kids & Families Network, the Illinois Coalition for School Health Centers, and Covering Kids & Families — Wisconsin, will host the first Midwestern Regional conference to focus on school health initiatives from a national, regional and state perspective. The conference, Health Care + Education = Healthy Communities: Why Schools Fit the Equation, is scheduled for July 23-24, 2008 and will be held at the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown.

43 continuing education offerings reached 1,330 participants, including 302 clinicians employed in safety-net sites

19,027 K-12 students in health careers outreach

317 students completing intensive career exploration and academic enrichment activities, and 18% are racial/ethnic minority

73% of participating high school students are from minority or disadvantaged backgrounds.
